Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Blogs, etc. are the tsunamis in the current Internet media with users reaching millions. Personally impressed with how fast those sites gained people’s attention somehow sparked a thought on what factors making them such popularly accepted among the people instead of other tools used to be peoplar before like Friendster or Multiply. In the past, users are more careful with the Internet, reflected perhaps until now on how careful people are when it comes with online transactions. However, it is a different story when it comes to these tools. What should be considered as ‘Privacy’ were no longer within its defined scope.
Breach of privacy is in the new era where it’s no longer being breached, instead it became an act of proud voluntary…sharing of thoughts and opinions are beneficial yet individual modesty and honour are to be kept well rather than vulnerable. Have a self-respect we have been given and deserve for they will be asked in the Day of Judgement.
Remember Allah at all times for He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing of all what we need and crave for.
“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and to be mindful of their chastity: this will be most conducive to their purity – [and,] verily, God is aware of all that they do.”
“And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ORNAMENTS except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband’s fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ORNAMENTS. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss.”
(Quran Surah An Nur 24: 30-31)
These verses are what to always be observed for they became the basic attitudinal principles (adaab) that define us as Muslims and the Believers (Mu’min). Use them wisely for they are efficient tools for helping others to know Allah and understand His Deen that will lead us to the good ending we all crave for, Al-Jannah and Mardhatillah (Allah’s pleasure). Remember, Allah did say to us:
“Who is better in speech than one who calls (men) to Allah, works righteousness, and says, “I am of those who bow in Islam”?” (Quran Surah Fussilat 41:33)
Now, it is up to us what to use them for. Indeed, all what we did are recorded by the two angels and to be justified in the Last Day.
“for there is nothing [so deeply] hidden in the heavens or on earth but is recorded in [His] clear decree.” (Quran An Naml 27:75).
